Odds and Ends: With 13 returning players to the roster — led by captains Maria Barbosa, Maddie Clark and Della Hildt — Amesbury is eager to improve upon its 2024 campaign. … Looking ahead to the winter, new goalie Delaney Sargent will be one of five key members of the basketball team who are playing soccer this fall. Both Ellison Talbot (9.5 ppg, 21 3s) and Sargent (3.6 ppg) played big minutes a year ago, while Cadence Olbrot and Violet Davis will look to take on expanded roles. Then Haley Dube is a promising freshman who both the soccer and basketball programs are excited about. … Davis is also a talented track athlete who placed eighth in the 2-Mile (11:48.89) at the Division 6 State Meet last spring. … The Redhawks have started out the 2025 season with losses to Hamilton-Wenham and Manchester Essex.

Odds and Ends: Since Kevin Fair took over the program four years ago, Georgetown has gone a combined 48-27-9 with two Division 5 Round of 16 runs, another trip to the quarterfinals and last year’s appearance in the Final Four. All positive trends likely to continue in 2025, as the Royals return 17 players from last year’s roster which includes seven starters and 43 of the 67 goals scored. … The Royals just have talent all over the field. … At striker, it starts with the team’s two returning Daily News All-Stars in Jenna Johnson (16g, 21a) and Kat Greenblatt (15g, 3a), then promising young 8th-grader Brylee Hodges scored in all four preseason scrimmages. Johnson has also been an invaluable member of the softball team the past two years, hitting .417 (25-for-60) with 27 RBI last spring in helping the Royals reach the Div. 5 Final Four in that sport as well. … In the midfield, Katie Davies and Maddie Cirone both project to be a force. A three-sport standout, Davies was a Daily News Basketball All-Star last winter who averaged 9.1 points and 10.6 boards per game, before scoring 29 goals with 10 assists for the lacrosse team during the spring. Projecting ahead to this upcoming winter, Davies, Alyssa Ziolkowski, Jamisen Tanzilli and Hodges will be key players for the basketball team. … Finally, out back, returning goalie Cora Robinson (also the starting second baseman for the softball team) has an elite unite in front of her between defenders Penny Church, Abbie Jarosch, Noelle Klimas and Liana Nakatsugawa.

Odds and Ends: With an elite 10-person senior class, along with an incredible 20 returning players in total, coach Kevin Sheridan and Newburyport have plenty to be excited about this season. … Four years ago, nine of those seniors were on the 8th-grade Newburyport Cyclone travel team that made it to the finals of the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions — marking the first time ever that a team from Newburyport advanced that far in the state’s most prestigious tournament. Those young athletes were: Drew Pavao, Skylar Ikemoto, Chloe Raby, Phoebe Whitcomb, Sasha Berlind, Sevilla Coffin, Aoife Tykulsky, Carragh Casellini and Sienna LeClair, and now as seniors, they’re looking to compete for a state title. … Tykulsky is a two-time Daily News All-Star who has 40 career goals and 28 assists. … Coffin led the entire area with 19 assists last year, and just recently committed to play at Union College. … The Clippers also saw their two-year starting goalie, Chloe Raby, commit to DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania. She probably won’t see too much action this year thanks to a dominant defense in front of her, led by Ikemoto, Berlind, LeClair, Emily Homer, Delaney Duncan and returning Daily News All-Star Elise Kennedy. … A three-sport standout, Whitcomb was a Daily News Ski All-Star last winter, then a starting defender for the lacrosse team that made the Division 3 state championship game for the third straight year. … And besides their talent in soccer, a majority of the team also excels in track and field. That includes Ikemoto and Homer, but Cameron Todd, Audrey Roebuck and Margaux Dupuis were all Daily News All-Stars during either the winter or spring season. … The Clippers have started out the 2025 season 1-0-1 after beating Lynnfield and earning a draw with North Reading.

Odds and Ends: Between its 14 returning players, which includes its two CAL All-Stars from a year ago in Grace Sudbay and Sofia Bellacqua, Pentucket has hopes of making it back to the playoffs after missing out last year. … Sudbay is a former Daily News All-Star (2023) who has made one of the CAL All-Star teams in each of the past two seasons. … Meanwhile, Bellacqua was named a Daily News Basketball All-Star for us last winter after averaging 5.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.8 steals per game to go along with 18 made 3s. … Similarly, Allie Gagnon was also named a Daily News Basketball All-Star a year ago, helping the Panthers reach the program’s fourth straight state quarterfinal after averaging 8.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.5 steals per game. She is also a talented lacrosse player along with Bella Martins and Caroline Tedeschi. … Both Regan Breen and Paige Rosario are two-season track standouts as well. Last winter during the indoor season, the duo were on the school’s 4×200 relay team that qualified for and finished 18th at Meet of Champions (1:49.62). … Pentucket has started the year off with setbacks to North Reading and Essex Tech.
