WOW Conference set for The Vault
LAWRENCE — The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce will hold its 26th annual Winning Opportunities for Women (WOW) Conference from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, April 26, at The Vault Function Hall, 283 Essex St.
Keynote speakers are Ilhlana Rojas, bestselling author, international motivational speaker and owner of BeLIVE Coaching & Consulting; Michelle Saunders, senior director of talent, culture and DE&I for Brooks Automation, and Amber Farley, educator, consultant, and thought leader partner & executive vice president of brand development for Financial Marketing Solutions (FMS).

Purple Couch hosts Silent Book Club
NORTH ANDOVER — The Purple Couch Bookshop at 350 Winthrop Ave. (Unit 9B) will host the newest official chapter of Silent Book Club, with its first meeting scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 4.
The club has more than 500 chapters in 50 countries around the world led by local volunteers. Members gather in public at bars, cafes, bookstores, libraries and online to read together in quiet camaraderie.
There will be no pressure to finish a chosen book. Come prepared with thoughtful discussion questions. Bring your own book, or find something new in the store.
From 6 to 6:30 p.m., readers can socialize and staff will be on hand to help find that next great read.
Reading time begins at 6:30 p.m. Find a cozy spot to curl up and read what makes you happy. These events are perfect for introverts and anyone who can’t seem to find time to read. The store will remain open until 8 p.m. for those who need to finish one more chapter or find something new for their to-be-read lists.

Derby fundraiser planned
HAVERHILL — The Psychological Center of Lawrence will hold a “Diamonds Are For Derby” fundraiser from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., Saturday, May 4, at the Haverhill Country Club, 58 Brickett Lane.
This Kentucky Derby themed event will include a variety of activities related to the James Bond movies including mint juleps, martinis, southern fare buffet, a DJ, games, raffles, a photo booth, prizes and entertainment.
There will be a viewing of the live Kentucky Derby prior to dinner, followed by games, musical entertainment, a Magic Mirror photo booth, dancers, and prizes for those who are best dressed and those who have the best hat. There will also be a signature musical chairs horse race.
The Psychological Center, Inc., is seeking sponsors for the event, and is offering four tiers of sponsorship to those interested.
Money raised helps support Pegasus House, Women’s View and the DayBreak Shelter.

Guest speakers are John Lavoie, superintendent of Greater Lawrence Technical School and Maureen Lynch, superintendent of Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School.

Cancer screening event with Dana-Farber
LAWRENCE — A conversation about lung and breast cancer screenings and health disparities will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, at The Center at 155 Haverhill St.
Attendees will learn about cancer screenings, risks and guidelines, participate in discussions and activities and learn about available treatment options.
The event aims to raise awareness and encourage action to address health disparities, organizers said.
The event recognizes National Minority Health Month and is sponsored by the Mayor’s Health Task Force, The Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Center for Cancer Equity Engagement with Dana-Farber and the Harvard Cancer Center.
