Not a bad start to my season, picking winners of 12 of the 14 weekend pro football games.
In fact, if Chicago had beaten Minnesota on Monday night — I picked ‘Da Bears,’ nobody would have beaten me.
But the Vikings won and five readers picked 13 of 14 winners, a great start to the season.
Just so you know, the average was 9 winners.
My secret? I stuck with the favorites and the better teams. It doesn’t always work, but it did.
I, too, picked the Patriots, as did nearly 400 of the all-time record 425 entries,
How are the Patriots treated going forward, with another pick ‘em game this weekend in Miami. My guess? Their love drops exponentially, as in 60 percent.
Butcher Boy Market of North Andover sponsored Week 1 of the “I Beat Burt” contest.
Each week an employee of that week’s sponsor will make their picks against me and Butcher Boy’s Don Snow, a butcher, made a nice run.
He won 11 of 14 games, but I had 12, including a loss on Monday night.
Good. But not good enough.
Week 2 is here. Let’s get ready to rumble.
