The Bryan Symphony Orchestra will continue its “BSO Presents” series with a concert performance featuring the Tennessee Tech Faculty Jazz Ensemble and acclaimed vocalist Regina Pullin at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 24, at the Cumberland County Playhouse.
Part of the symphony’s ongoing effort to expand access to diverse live music experiences, the concert will be a showcase of jazz that blends tradition and innovation.
The Tennessee Tech Faculty Jazz Ensemble — comprised of accomplished musicians from Tech’s School of Music — will be joined by Pullin, a Sparta native, former vocalist for the U.S. Air Force Band and a longtime favorite on the Playhouse stage.
Audiences can expect a dynamic program ranging from swinging, high-energy selections to expressive ballads, highlighting the ensemble’s versatility and Pullin’s distinctive vocal style. The event follows two sold-out shows from Pullin at the Playhouse over the last season.
The “BSO Presents” series offers audiences the chance to experience a broader range of musical genres outside of the symphony’s traditional full-orchestra season.
The series has included performances spanning jazz, acoustic, folk and singer-songwriter styles, all designed to complement the symphony’s core programming and further enrich the cultural landscape of the Upper Cumberland.
“This concert is a wonderful example of what makes the BSO Presents series so special,” said Susan Miranda, executive director of the Bryan Symphony Orchestra. “We are so appreciative to Bryce McDonald and his team at the Cumberland County Playhouse for their support and partnership as we work together to make the arts accessible to all across the Upper Cumberland. Collaborations like this allow us to reach new audiences while celebrating the incredible talent within our region.”
Miranda added that the symphony is especially excited to welcome Pullin to the stage alongside the faculty ensemble.
“Regina Pullin is a celebrated vocalist with deep roots in this community, and we are delighted to bring an artist of her caliber together with our Tennessee Tech Faculty Jazz Ensemble,” Miranda said. “It’s going to be an unforgettable evening that truly highlights the depth of artistry we have right here at home.”
General admission tickets are $25 and are available through the Cumberland County Playhouse box office.
The Bryan Symphony Orchestra is a collaboration between the School of Music at Tennessee Tech University and the nonprofit Bryan Symphony Orchestra Association.
