GRAFTON, W.Va. — Behind Jacob Brown’s 27 points and an efficient night at the foul line, Southern defeated Grafton, 50-38, Thursday in the Sam Bond Tournament semifinals.
Brown hit 11 of 12 free throws, part of an 18 for 23 performance at the charity stripe by the Rams. Southern was only called for six fouls, compared to 19 by Nicholas County.
Southern led after each quarter, 12-11, 22-20 and 35-29.
Graham Harvey joined Brown in double figures for the Rams with 17 points.
Maverick Smith and Isaac Miner were Nicholas County’s leading scorers with 16 and 10 points, respectively.
Southern (2-0) faces Grafton in the championship game on Friday at 8:45 p.m.
Lighthouse 60, MACH Speed 37
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Zeph Harper recorded a double-double with more tan 20 points to guide Lighthouse to a victory over MACH Speed on Tuesday.
Harper scored 24 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. Ryan Smith added 14 points.
The Martinsburg Area Christian Homeschoolers, also known as MACH Speed, were led by Jared Arzola and Joshua Cleveland with seven points each.
Lighthouse is at Johnstown Christian on Monday at 6 p.m.
