Guess who found themselves a new home.
Former Mankato East standout Brogan Madson announced he is transferring to St. Thomas after one season at Sioux Falls. Madson, who will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Tommies, helped lead East to four-straight state tournament appearances before graduating in 2025. He is also the program’s all-time leader for points, assists and steals.
Madson’s first and lone season with Sioux Falls was one for the record books. He became an instant star for USF, averaging 19.1 points while shooting .458 from the floor and .322 from 3-point range.
Madson scored 20 or more points in 12 conference games and exploded for a season-high 45 points against Wayne State. His efforts landed him First Team All-NSIC honors and was named NSIC Newcomer of the Year.
He also earned National Player of the Week honors in February. In that stretch he averaged 38 points, 5.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 64 percent from the field (23 of 36), connecting on 10 of 16 from 3-point range and 20 of 25 from the free-throw line. USF split its two Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games, rallying past Wayne State 119-114 in overtime before falling 104-93 at Augustana.
The Wayne State performance may go down as one of the best in program history. Madson poured in a career-high 45 points in 41 minutes — 23 in the first half alone — shooting 14 of 18 from the field and 4 of 6 from three.
Now he takes his talents to nearby St. Thomas, who will enter its sixth year at the Division I level during the 2026-27 season. The Tommies finished the 2025-26 campaign with a 24-10 overall record and a 12-4 mark in the Summit League.
The Tommies reach the Summit League’s tournament semifinal game, falling to North Dakota 67-66. St. Thomas lost in the first round of the NIT 67-52 to Seattle University.
