Member show announced
ST. PETER — Visual and literary artwork is being accepted for the Arts Center of Saint Peter’s annual exhibition by arts center members.
The exhibit is July 19 to Aug. 30 at the center, 315 S. Minnesota Ave.
Work is being accepted during gallery hours: 1-5 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The center will be closed July 4.
Participants may become members or renew their membership during work drop-off. Membership dues are renewable annually and are $20 for students, $40 for individuals, $60 for households and free for Indigenous Minnesotans.
The exhibition is not juried. Details and paperwork for artwork submission is downloadable at: artscentersp.org.
Concert to feature hymns
WALDORF — A piano-violin duo will perform a concert 7 p.m. Sunday at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf.
The White Bear Lake-based duo, Weber/St John, performs arrangements of hymns.
The concert is open to the public. Free-will donations will be accepted.
Resistance art festival set
RAPIDAN — Indivisible St. Peter/Greater Mankato will sponsor a resistance art festival 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at The Poor Farm in rural Rapidan, 192nd Lane, Blue Earth County.
The free event is intended as an expression of the group’s values and as a push back against an administration that seeks to dismantle art, science, and freedom of expression.
Festival features include art demos, a gallery exhibit and live music by the bands Donner Party, Joe’s Garage Zappa Tribute and Silver Summer.
Pizza will be served. Participants may bring picnic lunches as well as lawn chairs and blankets.
The event is wheelchair accessible.
Indivisible St. Peter/Greater Mankato is a non-partisan group dedicated to positive, progressive action.
Band to play patriotic music
MANKATO — Mankato Area Community Band will present a concert of patriotic music 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lincoln Park near the Boy in Blue Civil War Memorial.
“Tramp! Tramp! Tramp!” is planned as a celebration of the nation’s 249th Independence Day, the 160th anniversary of the End of the American Civil War in 1865, and the 10th anniversary of the dedication of the Boy in Blue Memorial in Lincoln Park.
Free-will donations will be accepted.
If the weather is inclement, the concert will be in Elias J. Halling Recital Hall at Minnesota State University.
