DANVILLE — District 118 Superintendent John Hart announced Thursday night that a bomb threat was made on social media involving Danville High School.
In a letter to parents and guardians, Hart stated the district takes any threats to student and staff safety very seriously. Upon learning of the post we immediately activated our safety protocols and contact law enforcement.
“We are working closely with the Danville Police Department and University of Illinois to investigate the situation,” Hart said in the letter. “As part of this response, officers, including a K9 unit, are conducting through searches of the school grounds (both interior and exterior) out of an abundance of caution. At this time, we have no evidence to suggest an immediate danger, but we believe it is essential to take every precaution to ensure the safety of our school community.
“We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as more information becomes available. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority, and we are grateful for your patience and support as we work through this process. A districtwide update will be provided by 6 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2026.”
Hart added, “if you or your child become aware of any additional information, please contact the district or the Danville Police Department.”
