The Cumberland County Board of Education scheduled a special called meeting to follow the April 15 budget meeting. One of the agenda items in the budget meeting is to review survey results.
The board sent a survey to all school employees asking them to rank how they feel about the recent budget discussions.
The board has been told by both Director of Schools William Stepp and by Chief Operations Officer Kim Bray that employee compensation and benefits are 86% of the budget. The board has discussed what options they have to save money within that 86%, such as salary increases and changing what type of insurance would be available to employees.
The survey contained information asking employees to rank what was most important to them. The employees were asked to rank the following five things: Pay, insurance, professional development, recognition and paid time off.
Following the budget meeting, in the special called meeting, the board will look at the updated items they asked Chief Operations Officer Bray to calculate for them to vote on. They will look at the updated balanced scale with 25 years or more, the classified scale with a 2% raise, an analysis of a classified scale for less than 260 days, various alternative benefits package plans and Budget 143 proposed scales. Budget 143 addresses cafeteria funding.
The Cumberland County Board of Education will meet for a budget meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in the Central Services building at 368 Fourth St., Crossville. The special-called meeting will follow.
