Marsha Polson, the school nurse coordinator and coordinated school health provider, recognized the Cumberland County School Nutrition District Supervisor Kathy Hamby and Cindy Miniard for earning Tennessee Coordinated School Health awards.
Hamby won the Award of Excellence in Nutrition and Miniard won the Award of Excellence in Physical Education and Physical Activity.
According to the description Polson read at the board meeting, the Tennessee Coordinated School Health awards are given to school health professionals and partners who display the following:
•Prioritize the physical, emotional and social health of all students;
•Demonstrate the connection between health and academics; and
•Showcase significant improvement in student, staff, and families’ well
being through one or more of the eight components of CSH.
Polson stated that Hamby and Miniard were finalists in their categories. Their awards were announced at the Coordinated School Health Institute in early March.
“Congratulations to these two upstanding employees in the Cumberland County School District,” said Polson. “We are proud of you both.”
