The Cumberland County Board of Education recognized several Beta club members for their recent achievements.
For Homestead Elementary: Jocelyn Gamarra took third place in 8th grade ELA.
For Stone Elementary: The school took 34 students to compete in the State Beta Convention in Nashville, TN. Stone had two students finish in the top five in the state in their prospective categories. Om Patel finished fifth in 7th grade Science. Brooklyn Johnson, 8th grade, finished fourth in the Woodworking division. Both students are eligible to compete in the National Convention this summer in Orlando.
For Glenn L. Martin Elementary: The Junior Beta Club had one state-level winner at the 2024 Tennessee Junior Beta Convention in Nashville. Kristine Ocampo earned third place in the state in 6th grade computer science.
For South Cumberland Elementary: In 7th grade Math: Crecia Clouse; Junior Poetry: Aubrey Conner; and 7th Grade Spelling: MadaLynn Norris.
For Cumberland County High School: First place Fiber Arts, Division II: Alexus Boniol; first place Digital Art, Division II: Laila Selby; third place Black & White Photography, Division II: Aubrey Vickers; fourth place Onsite Painting, Division I: Bella Bentley; fifth place Social Studies, 9th Grade: Liam Stephens. The group winners all had to work together on these massive projects: third place Technology: Elliana Filler, Macy Brown, Dani Hassler; fourth place Living Literature: Lexis Walton, Skylynn Houser, Natalia Kopsie, Elliana Filler, Marleigh Gargac, lain Gargac and Fallon England.
For Stone Memorial High School: Maddie Goad, 10th grade, placed fourth in 10th grade language arts; Emma Bullock, 10th grade, placed fourth in division 1 sculpture.
For North Elementary: Eden Ordway won third place in the Social Studies competition.
