THEFT
Officers are looking into a vehicle break-in in the 500 block of 25th Street. A female victim told police that sometime between 1 and 7:25 a.m. Friday someone broke into her 2008 Ford Expedition SUV by smashing a passenger-side window. The victim said the vehicle’s stereo system was taken.
ARREST
A Falls man was arrested after police said he grabbed $11 out of a woman’s purse as she walked in the 800 block of 19th Street at 4:45 p.m. Friday. The 36-year-old man was charged with third-degree robbery, third-degree menacing and resisting arrest. The victim told officers that she was walking home from grocery shopping, when a male suspect “with no fingers” reached in her purse and took money. Police said they found the suspect a short distance away. The victim positively identified him as the man who robbed her.
ARREST
A Falls woman was arrested after police said she threatened another woman with a machete in the 700 block of 17th Street at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. The 43-year-old woman was charged with second-degree menacing.
BURGLARY
Police are investigating a burglary in the 400 block of Elmwood Avenue. A male victim told officers that sometime between 12:30 and 1 p.m. Sunday, someone broke into his garage by unknown means. The victim said some saw blades and drill bits were taken from the garage.
FRAUD
Police are investigating a case of fraud in the 6900 block of Hidden Oak Drive in Pendleton. A male victim told Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies that he allowed an unknown party to access his laptop to renew his anti-virus software and after an error asked for $9,800 on Friday. The victim contacted the anti-virus company directly and confirmed it was a scam and that his personal information was compromised.
ARREST
A man was arrested after a shoplifting incident on the 5700 block of South Transit Road in the Town of Lockport at 11:34 a.m. Sunday. The man, whose age was not provided, is charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. He is accused of taking more than $138 worth of merchandise without paying for the items.
ARREST
Two men were arrested after a shoplifting incident and traffic stop in the 10 block of Summit Street in the City of Lockport at 3:11 a.m. Saturday. The men, whose ages were not listed, are charged with grand larceny. They are accused of stealing pressure-treated lumber and building materials valued at more than $1,752.
