Students and faculty at Bloneva Bond Elementary School celebrated Juneteenth a day early on Wednesday.
During an afternoon event recognizing the federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, students from Mrs. Webber’s kindergarten class and Mrs. Gagliardo and Mrs. Ingham’s second grade classes took to the school auditorium stage to present a Juneteenth timeline play.
Students and teachers also enjoyed a sing- and dance-along featuring the Kool and the Gang song “Celebration.”
They wrapped up the festivities with a parade around the outside of the school.
