In the heart — and 100 degree heat — of Belton, Texas Saturday afternoon, the unbeaten Endicott College football team got a huge blocked extra point from Jackson Adams to defeat host Mary Hardin-Baylor, 28-27, in a battle of teams ranked in the Division 3 national Top 25.
Adams, who had a team-high eight tackles for the Gulls (now 3-0), leaped up to tip the potential game-tying extra point with 37 seconds remaining, knocking off the 16th seeded hosts.
Quarterback Shea Lynch of Peabody throw for 234 yards and three touchdown passes for the winners. Kennedy Charles was his favorite targe on the day, as he snared six catches for 118 yards and two scores. Jacob Ward (5 rec., 50 yards) also had a touchdown reception for Endicott, with sophomore running back Bryan Ferreira (9 carries, 59 yards) also finding the end zone on a 1-yard third quarter plunge.
Endicott is back at Hempstead Stadium in Beverly this Saturday (noon) for Homecoming, where they’ll take on Husson.
