ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Bishop Walsh graduate and New Mexico senior Ale Puerto was named first-team All-Mountain West Conference Tuesday.
Her teammate, Nicole Anderson, was a second-team selection
Puerto and Anderson led the Lobos with four goals apiece against conference opponents with the duo also recording game-winning goals.
Puerto, who tallied eight goals overall, scored twice in the conference opener against Colorado College, one at San Jose State and the game-winner on Senior Night against Wyoming
Anderson scored the game-winner at Nevada and assisted on three goals including Puerto’s score at San Jose State and the game-winner against Wyoming.
The Lobo duo tied for the seventh-most goals among MW players with Anderson’s 11 points tied for fourth in the conference.
Anderson led the conference in shots and shots per match at 40 and 4.0, respectively, while Puerto tied for ninth in shots (22) and tied for 10th in shots per match (2.2).
Anderson’s three assists also tied for the sixth most in the conference.
Puerto finishes her collegiate career with two All-Conference selections after earning second-team All-Mountain East Conference honors in 2022 at Fairmont State.
She helped the Fighting Falcons defeat Frostburg State in the 2022 MEC championship, earning their first MEC title in program history.
Puerto was the area Player of the Year in 2021, scoring an area record 48 goals with eight assists in only 15 games.
In 45 games as a Spartan, she scored 94 times with 16 assists.
