“Children are not casual guests in our home. They have been loaned to us temporarily for the purpose of loving them and instilling a foundation of values on which their future lives will be built.” — James Dobson
Your local Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Northwest Georgia Mountains just hosted its annual Silver Bell Sprint. The event took place on Friday, Dec. 1.
This event aided in the agency’s ability to continue to have positive impact on the community. There are numerous children in the area that are already benefiting from the program and so many more that may need the service.
The support for our program continues to allow Big Brothers Big Sisters to strive to inspire potential in the children in our community.
We would like to give congratulations to those that participated in the 1-mile fun run and those that placed in the 5k. Those that placed will be showcased on the organization’s Facebook page.
The agency would like to express its gratitude toward those that were involved in any way and comment on the joy it brings to be a part of a community that is so engaged with its local organizations.
The program would like to give a special thanks to all of those that were a sponsor of the event. This includes Kobayashi, Textile Rubber and Chemical Co., Engineered Floors, Alliant Health, Builtwell Bank, Dalton Print Shop, Dalton Utilities OptiLink, The Oil Well, Coldwell Banker and Kinard Realty, the city of Dalton, GraphX Signs, Dalton Plastic Surgery and the Dalton Police Department.
Lindsey Foster, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters NGM, said, “The children in the local school systems are at home in our community and are a vital component of the future of each of our neighborhoods. There is a pressing need to be supportive and passionate about their growth and successfulness at all levels. One of the most valuable things you can give back to your community is your time. Our program gives an excellent opportunity for anyone that may have fervor for promoting the achievement of potential in children.”
There are numerous children in the area who would benefit from the program but volunteers are needed to continue to create more matches.
Individuals who are dedicated to give their time to youth in the area can contact our agency by phone at (706) 278-0702 or by email to supportbbbsngm.org or lfoster@bbbsngm.org.
