PLATTSBURGH — Violet Berry tossed in 17 points and Reese Duprey added 14 Friday night to lead the Peru girls to a 51-32 victory over Plattsburgh High in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Division I play.
The Nighthawks were able to take a 30-13 halftime lead after going on a 20-3 run in the second quarter.
Ava Weiss was the lone Hornet player in double figure with 15.
“Tonight’s game was very physical,” PHS coach Kelly Weiss said. “Peru outplayed us in the second quarter, and we weren’t able to recover from the deficit.
“I am proud of my girls for playing hard until the end. We showed a lot of heart but need to cut down on mistakes in order to win. Peru had a very talented group of girls.”
