ESSEX — Families can jump start fright night by making the rounds today in the Haunted Hamlet, also known as Essex, until the bats fly.
There’s plenty happening downtown, but Ghost Busters can get in the spirit at the Belden Noble Memorial Library, 2759 Essex Rd.
“(Today) from 2 to 4 p.m., we are doing a Halloween Scavenger Hunt for kids,” Julie Wever, library director, said.
“We are doing stories from 2 to 4 also. Rinda Foster is reading. She’ll be here in costume. It’s a witch, and she’s bringing along her familiar, Petey, who is a boa constrictor. If people were bringing small kids they should know there’s a live boa here.”
Rinda the Good Witch (no guarantees!) will read spooky stories.
Halloween Trivia starts at 4 p.m. Visitors can come with a pre-made team (two to four people) or join a team at the library.
“I’m trying a Trivia game for adults from 4 to 5 p.m.,” Wever said.
“That will be Halloween trivia, and we’re hoping that people who are working around the Haunted Hamlet will walk an additional block our way because we’re really not on that main block of town. We are across from the ferry. All these events are usually held behind the Town Hall, that main block of town. We are trying to attract families here to at here here to check out the library.”
