BEAR LAKE — Bear Lake football is heading into the 2025 season with sights in a winning season after a positive 2024.
“We’ve had a lot of practice,” Bear Lake coach Sam Mullet said. “It’s time to get into game mode.”
Bear Lake plays Friday night at Bellaire to kick off the season after going 5-4 in 2024.
The Lakers will be a senior-led team looking to compete this season, with seven seniors out of 18 players.
“We’ve got to play a full four quarters,” Bear Lake Senior Landyn Kequom said. “That was our problem last year. Everyone’s got to do their responsibility, do it the whole play.”
The Lakers will be playing in 8-player Division 2 in 2025.
Third-year head coach Sam Mullet made history as the first woman to win a high school football game in Michigan and continues to lead the Bear Lake Lakers football program as coach and a physical education teacher at Bear Lake Schools.
“We are ready for a winning season,” she said. “We had one last year, but it was two forfeit wins, so it counts, but it doesn’t count.”
Bear Lake returns after having a team 3.8 grade-point average, an all-state honor.
