NEWBURYPORT — Massachusetts author and educator Philip Weinstein will celebrate the release of his new book “Time’s Bounty” on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Jabberwocky Bookshop, 50 Water St. (The Tannery). He will be joined by his editor and Newburyport resident Celia Johnson.
“Time’s Bounty” offers a view of the surprises that lie ahead as folks age. In five brief chapters, Weinstein takes readers from the generative discoveries that age occasions to the freedom that comes in life’s later chapters.
For more than 40 years, Weinstein was a professor of English at Swarthmore College and published nine books of literary criticism. His “Becoming Faulkner” won the Hugh Holman Award as the best book on Southern literature published in 2010. His recent essay “Soul-Error” was chosen for inclusion in Best American Essays 2020.
