United Way of Greater Niagara officials are calling the Battle of the Banks fundraising event held May 22 at Brickyard Brewing Company in Lewiston an overwhelming success. The event brought together local banks, community members, and supporters in a spirited competition to raise funds for vital community youth programs.
Battle of the Banks saw participation from four local branches of Northwest Bank, Key Bank, Impressia Bank and Niagara’s Choice Federal Credit Union, each vying for the top spot in generating the highest amount in tips during each of their 45-minute bar-tending shifts. The event not only showcased the banks’ competitive spirit, but also their unwavering commitment to supporting the Niagara community.
“(The) event was a testament to the incredible generosity and community spirit that defines our region,” Andrea Gray, president & CEO of United Way of Greater Niagara, said. “We are deeply grateful to all the participating banks, their employees, and everyone who came out to support us. Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of our youth.”
The event was attended by more than 100 community members, who enjoyed music provided by Jeremy Mixon of DJ MXN at Mixon Music & Entertainment and food provided by Brickyard Pub & BBQ. Through ticket sales, sponsorships and a basket raffle presented by Women United of Greater Niagara, the Battle of the Banks raised more than $3,000 which will directly benefit the United Way’s various youth-oriented initiatives.
Special congratulations go to Niagara’s Choice Federal Credit Union, which emerged as the overall winner.
