Stone Memorial High School Senior Barbara Whitson and Phoenix School Senior Anna Dandy have been named the Fairfield Glade Lions Club March 2025 students of the month.
Barbara Whitson was selected by her school Counselor Laura Kidwell. Anna Dandy was selected by her school’s Assistant Principal Sharon Miller to take part in the Fairfield Glade Lions monthly program. Lions Club Co-Chairs Bill and Mary Green named Barbara and Anna Students of the Month along with Corporate Partner First National Bank of Tennessee and sponsor Joe FitzGerald.
Students are selected to participate in the Lions program because of good grades and involvement in activities during their four years in high school.
Barbara’s school activities include being a former member of the volleyball and track team. Barbara volunteers with the Paws for a Cause club, which helps to socialize and show sheltered pets. She is also a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Barbara enjoys singing and playing the piano in church as well as at home. She enjoys running and being in the natural beauty of the outdoors.
Barbara would like to pursue a career in dentistry by obtaining a degree in dental hygiene or a pre-dental degree.
Anna Dandy has excelled in her classes at The Phoenix School and is currently dual enrolled at Roane State Community College. Anna is a member of the Air Force Reserve Officer’s Training Corp. She participates in flag ceremonies, memorial services and develops videos for recruitment. One of her video presentations for the Air Force is used in school recruitments. She has also used her skills to help create a video interview with the Knox County Mayor at Karns High School.
Anna’s community involvement includes fundraising and awareness presentations for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She also participates in Wreaths Across America. On top of her other activities, Anna works part-time as a caregiver at a health facility.
Anna plans to attend Roane State Community College in the pre-nursing transfer program. She will then continue her education at South College to earn her nursing degree.
Barbara and Anna are notable examples of students who have taken advantage of getting involved in school activities during their four years in high school. First National Bank of Tennessee and the Fairfield Glade Lions Club wish them success in their future goals.
Barbara, Anna and their parents are invited to attend a Fairfield Glade Lions Dinner meeting in April with all other students of the month. The students will receive a special plaque with their name and month printed on it.
