SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Frankfort used a balance offense and hot shooting at the foul line to rout East Fairmont, 67-49, on Saturday.
The Falcons (11-9) had four scorers in double figures, led by Jeremy Phillips with 20 points. It was Phillips’ 18th 20-plus-point game this season.
Jake Layton tallied 13 points, and Uriah Cutter and Kycin Waites added 12 each.
Frankfort made 17 of its 20 free-throw attempts — Phillips was 8 for 10 — and had eight 3-pointers. Layton made three of them.
The Falcons led 17-11 after the first quarter, 32-22 at the half and 49-37 after three quarters.
East Fairmont’s Austin Taylor scored all of his points from beyond the arc, making seven triples for 21 points.
East Fairmont won the junior varsity game 49-44 led by 15 points by Will Hawkins. Ethan Talley and Braeden Laffey paced Frankfort’s JVs with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Frankfort is at East Hardy (16-5) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Union 70, Hundred 52
MOUNT STORM, W.Va. — Braylon Ward exploded for a season-high 37 points Saturday to help Union to a victory over Hundred.
The Tigers (10-10) led 19-14 after the first quarter, 35-23 at the half and 55-30 after three quarters.
Ward made 14 field goals and was 8 for 9 at the line. Hunter Gaither (17 points) and Jacob Wolfe (12) also scored in double figures.
Jaxon Huggins led Hundred with 17 points.
Union played the game short-handed after its center Corbin Streets had his nose broken by a punch against Harman on Thursday. Johnny Willis and Bryson Fazenbaker stepped up Saturday and played significant roles.
Union hosts Pendleton County on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
