CHAMPAIGN — Freshman Mihalio Petrovic scored a career-best 12 points as five Illinois players finished in double figures in a 87-73 victory over the Texas-Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros at the State Farm Center.
The 13th-rated Fighting Illini, who improved to 6-1, were led in scoring by Andrej Stojakovic with 24, it was his fourth 20-point outing in his Illini career and his third straight.
Freshman David Mirkovic had 10 points and four rebounds. It was his seventh straight college game with double figures. He also had a career-high five assists in the winning effort.
Brother Tomislav Ivisic and Zvonimir Ivisic each had 10 points for Illinois with Tomislav pulling down five rebounds, while Zvonimir had seven boards.
Freshman Keaton Wagler just missed double digits in scoring with 8 to go along with eight rebounds.
