SALEM, Mass. – Bail was set at $20,000 and a GPS monitoring bracelet ordered for a man accused of murdering a woman in Lawrence on Memorial Day weekend.
Tyler Halley, 21, was court ordered to be on 24/7 house arrest and live with his grandparents in Westport, Mass. in a bail order issued earlier this month by Superior Court Judge John Fraser.
Halley, 21, is charged with murder and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
He is accused of killing Madison Tesniere, 20, after an incident in a Canal Street apartment on May 23.
Halley had been held without bail at Middleton Jail. He is no longer at Middelton Jail, a spokeperson confirmed Wednesday.
As conditions of bail, he was also ordered to have no contact, directly or indirectly, with witnesses or the victim’s family, not possess any firearms, dangerous weapons, or other destructive devices, and not to use alcohol or drugs and submit to random screens.
He was also ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation and treatment.
Halley was recently indicted by the Essex County grand jury so his case was transferred to superior court.
If convicted, the penalties Halley faces in superior court are more severe.
Tesniere was a medical technician who grew up in Southern New Hampshire.
A prosecutor previously said Halley shot Tesniere in the head during what officials describe as “an intimate moment.”
At about 3:18 a.m. on May 23, Lawrence Police Department received a 911 call and then responded to an apartment at 240 Canal St.
“Upon arrival, a female was located with a severe head wound,” officials said. “The unresponsive victim was immediately transported to Merrimack Health Lawrence Hospital and, shortly after arriving, she was pronounced deceased.”
Fondly known as Maddi, Tesniere was born in Exeter, New Hampshire, the daughter of Daniel Tesniere and Midheta Camdzic Siljic.
She grew up in Fremont and Raymond, New Hampshire, graduating from Raymond High School class of 2024, according to obituary information published by Brewitt Funeral Home.
After graduation, Tesniere earned her certification as a medical technician and began building a career caring for others.
She worked at several healthcare facilities, including Pleasant View Center in Concord, New Hampshire, Maple Leaf Health Care Center and Hanover Hill Health Care Center in Manchester, Colonial Poplin/Poplin Way in Fremont, and most recently All American Assisted Living in Kingston.
The incident is being investigated by state police detectives, Lawrence police and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Halley’s next court date is Oct. 6.
