The Avalon Center is issuing an open call to artists to submit their works for its Voices of Survival.
All works submitted will be featured in Avalon Center newsletters, events and through social media, said Joey Metcalf, a victim advocate for the multi-county agency that provides support services to domestic violence and sexual assault victims.
“In honor of survivors we are inviting local artists to contribute works centered on the theme of surviving sexual assault — expressions of resilience, healing, justice and hope,” Metcalf said. “We welcome all mediums: painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, poetry and more.”
All credit will be given to artists, with the ultimate goal of featuring art on a daily basis during awareness months.
“Whether you are a survivor or an ally, your art can help tell the story of survival and support the journey toward awareness and healing,” Metcalf said.
Contact Metcalf at jmetcalf@avaloncentertn.org to submit works of art, or email or call 931-456-0747 for more information.
“Let your art be a voice for those silenced and a light for those still healing,” Metcalf said.
Based in Crossville, the Avalon Center serves Cumberland, Bledsoe, Fentress, Morgan, Rhea, Roane and Van Buren counties with a mission to end power-based violence against men, women and children.
