CUMBERLAND — The Cumberland Police Department and the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit are investigating an unattended death Friday on Howard Street in the area of Canal Place.
“This incident appears to be isolated, and there are no immediate concerns about any threat to public safety,” C3I Supervisor Korey Rounds wrote in a statement. “No additional details will be released at this time until we receive the report from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore and complete our investigation.”
Cumberland Fire Department was dispatched to 2 Howard St., the Footer’s Dye Works Building Friday just after 4:30 p.m. for an obvious death, according to an Allegany County Joint Communications Center spokesperson.
The Footer’s Dye Works Building in Cumberland is an historical building built in 1906 that has been redeveloped into a mixed-use center with apartments, retail and a brewery in walking distance to the C&O Canal.
