Tom Scott’s Theatre of the Stars will hold open auditions for Beth Henley’s “Crimes of the Heart” on July 17 and 18, from 6-8 p.m. at Chuckles Family Fun Center, 286 Chuckles Pkwy. (behind Lowe’s).
This new theater company will be casting the following roles:
Lenny (30) — Oldest of three sisters. Has taken responsibility as caregiver to Old Granddaddy and is living in his house. Shy with men. Today’s her birthday.
Meg (27) — Middle sister. Likes bourbon, cigarettes and men. Has been in Hollywood, CA, for the last five years waiting for her big break. Been having a real bad day for the last 10 months.
Babe (24) — Youngest sister and Old Granddaddy’s Dancing Sugar Plum. Married to the richest, most powerful man in all of Hazlehurst, whom she shot in the belly just yesterday.
Chick (29) — First cousin to the sisters. Married and has two kids. Lives next door to Old Granddaddy’s house and is a real piece of work.
Doc Porter (30) — Meg’s old boyfriend until Hurricane Camille. Now married with two half-Yankee kids. Recently moved back to Hazlehurst and is working his father’s farm.
Barnette Loyd (26) — Babe’s lawyer. He’s really good at lawyering and recently opened his own office in Hazlehurst. Heard Meg sing in Biloxi and bought an orange pound cake from Babe.
The play will be presented at the Palace Theatre Oct. 11, 12 and 13. Sides for auditions can be found on Tom Scott’s Theatre of the Stars Facebook page.
