Edward Cox, Jr. of Athens was arrested Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023 by the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) Narcotics Unit during an operation conducted along with with the FBI North Alabama Safe Streets Task Force, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the Huntsville Police Department.
During the operation, the LCSO Narcotics Unit and LCSO SWAT executed a search warrant at Cox’s residence on the 1500 block of Market Street in Athens where they found 13.75 ounces of methamphetamine and approximately three ounces of cocaine.
“We are grateful for the working relationships with our local task forces and law enforcement agencies. Our teamwork approach in getting these large amounts of dangerous drugs out of our region is a testament to our determination to serve and protect our citizens,” Limestone County Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin said.
Cox was charged with two counts of drug trafficking and is currently being held in the Limestone County Jail on a $50,000 bond and a parole violation.
