Big Little Truths by Liane Moriarty. The last time we saw the women of Big Little Lies — Madeline, Celeste, Jane, Renata, and Bonnie — their children were 5 years old. If someone wasn’t invited to a birthday party, feelings were hurt.
But 10 years have passed and the kids are in high school, navigating all of the drama that accompanies teendom. When the high school principal receives a threatening package in the mail, word quickly spreads throughout the community and parents are in an uproar.
But Madeline, Celeste, Jane, Renata, and Bonnie have other things to worry about. Not a Word by Linwood Barclay. Reece Chartwell thought his greatest problem was finding a new job — until he stopped by his parents’ house unannounced and found them both dead in bed.
The crime scene appears to be a murder-suicide since Reece’s father, Brent, left a suicide note. While waiting to be questioned, Reece is shocked when he receives a call from his mother, who turns out to be alive and has no idea what took place. Relieved but confused, Reece is surprised by her matter-of-fact reaction to the deaths.
Reece also needs to break the news to his brother Holden and is worried how he will react. Holden has been in and out of rehab facilities most of his life because of a secret he’s been keeping since childhood.
Brent’s former job with an unethical pharmaceutical company leads investigators to an unsolved murder that may be tied to the case. Reece does his best to protect his wife and teenage son, but mistakes from the past cannot be easily erased.

Violence — shooting, stabbing, garroting, and an attempt at vehicular homicide — are combined with Brooklyn’s relationships with friends, relatives, and her husband in this fast-moving prose with an enticing silky presence. Revelations pour out as the tension builds with implicit advice: don’t underestimate a ticked-off lover, especially if she’s holding a loaded revolver.

Resealing a macadam driveway is a smart way to protect a pricey investment, but be sure to ask that the sealants used are free of coal tar.
Coal tar is a common ingredient found in many asphalt sealing products; it’s also a suspected carcinogen linked to cancer.
DIYers will be glad to know that major home improvement retailers have banned coal tar completely from all of their asphalt sealing products.
When resealing your driveway, do two things: Keep your windows closed during the application and for at least one week after, and keep shoes off inside your house.
