Meridian Police Department announced a suspect is in custody Monday in connection with an armed robbery investigation.
Det. Chanetta Stevens, who serves as public information officer for the department, said Marlus Winters, 22, was arrested July 1 and charged with two counts of armed robbery. Police allege Winters is responsible for an armed robbery on June 3.
According to MPD records, police responded to an armed robbery call in the 300 block of Highway 19 North at 11:45 p.m. The victim told police he was threatened with a gun, and the suspect had taken his cash, MPD’s daily media release from the time states.
Winters was previously arrested by the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department on June 15 and charged with armed robbery. Sheriff Ward Calhoun said Winters allegedly robbed the A & A Express convenience store on Causeyville Road the night of June 14. He has been held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center since.
Stevens said Winters is being held without bond.
