My friend stopped me at church the other night and said she was ready to read more about my cats. She indicated it has been too long since I mentioned their escapades.
Well, I will be fair. Maslow is very well behaved, noticeably quiet and shy, and seldom finds himself in trouble.
Adler, on the other hand, is a different story. I am assuming, based on this information, that Adler is the one she was wanting to read about.
As luck would have it, right after Mona and I talked about my cats, and hers, Adler was found guilty of yet another misbehavior.
I am not a coffee drinker, but I do enjoy hot tea, particularly when the weather temperatures titrate down. Michael always makes my tea for me in his Keurig. So, I placed a tea bag in the coffee cup and told Michael it was ready for him to run the hot water through his coffee maker when he had time. (I am assuming he doesn’t want me messing with his favorite coffee machine.)
A few minutes later, Michael asked me which tea flavor I wanted since I forgot to place the tea bag in the teacup. I responded by telling him the bag was in the cup and asked whether he could see the tea string. He responded with a resounding no.
I was beginning to wonder whether I had ever actually placed the tea bag into the cup when it occurred to me.
Adler.
“Michael, I asked, do you think Adler would have taken the tea bag out?” “He never has before,” he responded.
Even though his “daddy” was defending him, he was still my feline of interest. I ascertained I should look. While I am doing an intense search for said tea bag, our boy Adler is lying on one of his favorite blankets on the living room floor, watching me. If cats could talk, I am confident he would have said he knew exactly what I was doing.
Sure enough, after a few minutes of searching, I found the tea bag and string underneath a table. Somehow, in the two minutes we were not looking, he managed to jump on the counter (which he is not allowed to do) grab the tea bag out of the cup and scamper off.
He is a mischievous, curious cat. Someone asked me the other day whether Maslow was as prone to do things such as this. My reply? “You kind of have to get up from a nap to be troublesome!”
Ironically, he is also the most loving of the two. He loves to be right by our side. His brother, not so much. We can go for hours and not see him. It is funny to me how different their personalities are!
Autumn lands on the Plateau next week, and this always brings with it a host of fall activities. Mark your calendars for Thursday, Oct. 9, at 1:30 p.m. This is the day of the annual Cumberland County High School homecoming parade.
