BOYS BASKETBALL
Peabody 67, Gloucester 42: The Fishermen had their hands full Friday evening at home, hosting a Peabody squad that’s dropped just two games all season. Those Tanners flexed their muscles early, jumping out to a 19-4 lead after the first quarter and never looking back en route to the league win.
Charlie Amero led Gloucester (now 4-10) with 12 points while freshman Carlos Velazquez chipped in nine in the losing effort.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Peabody 63, Gloucester 36: The Fishermen battled hard until the end, but ultimately fell to a very talented Peabody squad. Abby Stauffer led the way in defeat with 10 points. Gloucester will head to Saugus next on Monday for an NEC matchup.
INDOOR TRACK
Gloucester drops two: In their final dual meet of the season, the Fishermen boys fell to Masconomet, 68-18, while the girls suffered the same fate with a 64-18 setback to Masconomet.
On the girls side, Skye Ciolino was first overall in the 600 (1:44.19); Faith Castellucci was second overall in the mile (6:01.79); Georgana Cauthers snared second in the 1000 (3:23.50); and Alli Spencer took third place in the 300 (46.03).
For the boys, Bryce Rochford finished first in the 300 (39.13) and the 600 (1:31.32). The boys 4×400 relay team also snagged a third place finish in a time of 3:55.04.
GYMNASTICS
Beverly 128.65, Gloucester/Ipswich 118.95: Kameya Perron had a terrific showing for Gloucester, winning the all-around with 33.3 total points. She took first place on floor (8.6) while finishing second in the vault (9.1) and beam (8.25). Molly Pennimpede added a third place finish in the all-around (30.25).
