The Warriors made a statement to the Commonwealth by sweeping Methuen. Tina Zheng led Andover with 32 assists and 9 digs. Jessie Wang had 17 service points and 11 kills. Andover is now 7-2 on the year.
Chelmsford 3, Central Catholic 1
In an anticipated MVC showdown, the Raiders fell in four sets to Chelmsford. Central took the first set, before the Lions took three straight. Madison Blanchet was spectacular, despite the loss, racking up 37 assists and 12 service points. Julie Hall had 19 kills, while Sydney Faria had 15. Central Catholic is now 8-2 on the season.
Billerica 3, Haverhill 0
Despite a relatively close three set matchup, Haverhill fell to Billerica. Olivia Lesswing had 15 assists, while Lucy Martinez had 9 kills and 1 ace.
Golf
North Andover 10, Central Catholic 10
The Raiders and Scarlet Knights fought to a thrilling draw on Wednesday. For North Andover, Ben Woodford starred with a two-under 32 on the day. Central’s Finn Rourke led with a 2&1.
Haverhill 12.5, Lowell 6.5
Frosh Teddy Kempinski shot his best round yet with a 37 in Haverhill’s victory. Max Boyer, Brady Bergeron, and TJ Lindmark had convincing wins. Haverhill is now 4-5-1 on the season.
Bedford 189, Pinkerton 198, Nashua North 204, Merrimack 209
Led by Brady Cuneo’s 36, the Astros finished second at the Manchester Country Club. Johnny Barbarossa, Luke Lojko, and Ryan Robinson each had a 39 for Pinkerton. The Astros are now 11-6 on the season.
Field Hockey
Methuen 5, Dracut 0
It was all Rangers over the Middies. Ava Nartiff excelled with three goals and two assists. Emily Barbosa added a goal and assist, while Chloe Cashman also found the back of the net.
Boys Cross Country
Andover/Tewksbury/Billerica/Lawrence meet
While Billerica took the meet as a whole, Andover impressed in a quad meet at Tewksbury. Landon Zoss led the Warriors with a 15:10, fifth among all runners, while Benjamin Falk ran a 15:22. Rafely Garcia led Lawrence at 16:44.
North Andover/Haverhill/Chelmsford meet
The Scarlet Knights swept the day at home. In both events, North Andover runners went 1-2-3. The top finishes for North Andover were Brogan Zwinggi, Nicholas Floresquero-Llamas, and Tucker LaRosa.
Northeast Tech 24, Whittier Tech 31
Despite the loss, Whittier junior Conor Price finished first among all runners at 17:55. Sawyer Kardos finished fourth at 20:03.
Lowell Catholic 18, Greater Lawrence Tech 37
The Reggies fell to Lowell Catholic on Wednesday. Josiah Kabuye, a freshman, was the top Greater Lawrence runner on the day, sporting a 19:12 time.
Girls Cross Country
Andover/Tewksbury/Billerica/Lawrence meet
Billerica took the meet, but Andover’s Rose Kiley finished first among all runners with a 17:48. Fellow Warrior Alexia Chege came in 7th with a 18:01. Franciel Christopher was first among Lawrence runners at 24:11.
Central Catholic/Methuen/Dracut/Lowell meet
Sophomore Kyla Breslin continued her torrid career, finishing first among all runners with a 17:02, as Central cruised to a 5-0 start to the season. Central’s Lila Christy came in third with a 18:03. Ashley Machado led all Methuen runners at 20:39.
North Andover/Haverhill/Chelmsford meet
The Scarlet Knight girls split their tri-meet, defeating Haverhill, but falling to Chelmsford. Elisa Castro, Julia Kroon, and Olive LaRosa were the top runners for North Andover.
Whittier Tech 18, Northeast Tech 39
It was all Whittier over Northeast. Five Wildcat runners placed in the top six, with Elizallian Rivera leading the way (21:50) and Miranda Sargent following in second place (22:20).
Lowell Catholic 21, Greater Lawrence Tech 34
Despite Kelly Deleon Lopez running a 23:49, the Reggies were defeated.
