Central Catholic 16, Londonderry 15
For the second time this week, Central Catholic put the ball in Caden Smith’s stick with a tie game late, and again the junior delivered the game-winner in the final seconds.
Smith “picked up the ball at the top of the box, went coast to coast, and scored with seven seconds remaining,” said Raiders coach Sean Parsons.
Cal Schoenfeld had a huge night for the Raiders, scoring seven goals with two assists. Maddox Moscardini delivered 17 saves in the victory.
Windham 14, Nashua North 2Evan Ardizzone exploded offensively with seven goals and three assists for the Jaguars. Sam Kramer added two goals and three assists, while Josh Trudel earned a hat trick. Ethan Peluso did the dirty work, eating up nine ground balls in the win.
Softball
Methuen 7, Andover 6Sam Chalupa hit a walk-off three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to win it for the Rangers to rally from a 6-3 deficit to shock the Warriors. The homer was the second of the night for Chalupa, her fourth of the year. Methuen improved to 6-5 as Delaney D’Hondt scattered nine hits with seven strikeouts. Only one of the Andover runs was earned.
Haverhill 9, Tewksbury 3Emma Manning’s two-run single got the Hillies rolling. Emma Proia homered in the win. Bella Libucha picked up the win, striking out five in four innings. Ava Moscaritolo picked up the hard-earned, three-inning save. Manning finished with two hits and three runs scored. Reece Favalora had four hits.
Salem 15, Alvirne 0The Blue Devils improved to 5-2 in the five-inning affair behind four shutout innings from Michaela Dailey.
Maddie Bellavia had two hits, including a bases-loaded triple for Salem. Dailey and Abby Beeley added two hits apiece.
Chelmsford 20, North Andover 3Ceili Brown’s homer was one of just six hits for the 4-6 Knights.
Phillips Andover 18, Phillips Exeter 0The Big Blue took no prisoners against their rivals with Ashley Schuman dominating the four-inning shutout in the circle.
Brooks 15, Lawrence Academy 4Methuen’s Sophia Florencio laced a pair of home runs, including a grand slam to power the Brooks attack in the win.
Central Catholic 8, Billerica 2The Raiders remained perfect on a Chloe Salerno one-hit gem. Meg Maresca led the offense with a single and a triple with two runs scored and two RBIs. Salerno also singled and doubled.
Windham 16, Nashua South 0Sophomore Lily Carballeira pitched a three-hit shutout with nine strikeouts. She also delivered a pair of hits and three RBIs in the win. Corynne Roy hit a towering grand slam for her first career home run, she had three hits on the afternoon to go along with 5 RBIs. Captain Ava Runde had a single, double, and a triple to lead the 16-hit attack. Colbie Cushman had a home run and 3 RBIs. Grace Soucy had a hit and a strong defensive game.
Girls Lacrosse
Brooks 13, Groton 4
Elsa Wood, Lauren Sabo and Calista Tagney scored three goals apiece in the win. Abby Athanosoulas headed up a rock-solid Brooks defensive performance.
Salem 16, Memorial 2Katie Wood delivered eight goals as the Blue Devils emphatically broke into the win column. Althea Schaefer added three goals, and Leah Gonzalez had two, while Gabby Clarke, Kourtney Carroll and Avery Kalil had single scores. Olivia Schoenrock made eight saves in goal.
Windham 14, North 5Ally Hartmann led the way with five goals for the Jags, while Anna Hartmann added two goals and four assists.
Girls Tennis
Methuen 4, North Andover 1The singles all went to the Rangers with Jill McSweeney, Siena Firriello and Ella Duffy rolling in straight sets. Haiquis Dominguez and Emma Ripley teamed up to win at first doubles.
Volleyball
Methuen 3, Central Catholic 0The Rangers move to 8-4 with the straight-set win. For Central, now 5-7, Seven Gibson had 12 kills, while Michael Najjar dished out 23 assists and served eight points.
Lawrence 3, Haverhill 2After splitting the first four sets, the Lancers prevailed, 15-11, in the fifth.
For the Hillies, Kole Sindoni led the way up front with 13 kills and four blocks. Peter Grillo passed out 24 assists, and Pat Osgood stood out on defense with 15 digs.
Baseball
Haverhill 2, Tewksbury 0Brendan Snyder pitched the two-hit, complete-game shutout, piling up 11 strikeouts for the Hillies in the win. Haverhill improves to 6-5 with the victory. Mike Gentile drove in a Hillie run and was sharp defensively to lead the way.
Chelmsford 3, North Andover 0Sean Radulski pitched well, allowing just three hits over six innings, but suffered the tough-luck loss. Braydon Salach and Christopher Miles had the only Knight hits.
Salem 7, Alvirne 2Brady Silver pitched the complete-game win, a seven-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts. Patrick Ross had a pair of hits and drove in four runs. Ryan Lopez added two hits and an RBI, while Anthony Angelari and Dylan Nason also drove in Blue Devils’ runs.
Pinkerton 6, Merrimack 1The Astros relied on four hits, eight walks and a pair of Tomahawk errors to remain unbeaten on the year. Kason Plasse and Landin Moore each tripled, driving in two runs apiece. Lazlo Beaulieu and Jacoby Acevedo had the other hits.
Lawrence 5, Lowell 3Senior Fily Peralta went the distance in a six-hitter for the Lancers, fanning six.
Darren Rodriguez and Anderson Silverio powered the offense with three hits apiece. Michael Caba and Jeremy Veloz added two each.
Billerica 8, Central Catholic 1Shayne Welch and Nick Burgess had two hits apiece for the 3-8 Raiders.
Exeter 5, Timberlane 4The Blue Hawks put up five runs in the bottom of the first and hung on the rest of the way. Nate Hutchins pitched four scoreless innings of relief for the Owls, striking out four. Frankie Carrasquillo doubled with an RBI, and James Hannaford added two RBIs. Hutchins and Mike Santosuosso added the other Timberlane hits.
Brooks 6, Lawrence Academy 5 (9 innings)Brooks worked overtime to stun the defending ISL champs. Jonathan Stokes pitched three scoreless innings of relief for the win after Austin Stern was sharp in his six-inning start. James Sullivan’s ninth-inning walk-off bunt single in the ninth plated the game-winner for 3-8 Brooks.
