In a key early-season showdown, Salem moved to 5-0 on the year with the four-set win over the D-I state champs.
Emily Troisi led the way with a dozen kills, six digs and a block in a very busy day. Michaela Dailey added seven kills with two blocks. Amelia Cikacz had 18 digs, and Madison Blanchet dished out 16 assists.
Central Catholic 3, Methuen 0
The Raiders moved to 3-0 with the win behind Sydney Faria’s 13 kills. Julie Hall added 11 kills and 24 assists. Dahiamerys Brito led the defense with 10 digs, and Olivia Hughes served 10 points.
Andover 3, Haverhill 0
The Warriors got 23 kills from Kiki Wright and nine more from Ella Durant to move to 2-0 in the early going. Kendall Bent had eight blocks, while Tina Zheng was busy with five blocks, 31 assists and 13 service points. Claire Zhang served up 24 points.
Lucy Martinez was all over the floor for the Hillies with seven kills, six aces and five digs. Reece Favalora (10 digs) and Abby Mistretta (nine assists) also played well.
Dracut 3, Lawrence 2
Jenayalize Santana set a school record with 42 digs for the Lancers, who drop to 1-3. Chanel Jimenez passed out 33 assists. Wilianis Perez had eight kills, and Angie Valdez served 11 points with six aces.
Malden Catholic 3, Whittier Tech 0
The Wildcats fell to 1-2 on Monday, despite some fine play from Savannah Suriel (14 digs) and Adrianna Arndt.
Greater Lawrence Tech 3, Whittier 0
The Reggies rolled on Tuesday, moving to 4-0 behind nine kills and nine digs from Ella DiMauro-Lozowski. Jaydalise Davila added nine kills, while Asmeily Anziani passed out 17 assists. Ambar Munoz Rosario served five aces. Kelly Vigneaux, Jaelyn Furtado and Esmerline Dilone (6 blocks) paced Whittier.
Windham 3, Merrimack 1
Lucy Navratil came up huge in the Jaguars’s home opener with 16 kills on 20 attempts. Maura Lamb held added eight kills, twi blocks, and an ace. Maddie Begley pitched in 25 assists and served six aces.

Methuen/Tewksbury 99, Billerica 86
Ethan Corthell (100 free, 100 back) and Kyle Chiu (50 free, 100 fly) posted two wins each for the second straigt time. Sophia Cabral had a huge win in the 500 free, while Weston Sawicki scored big points by picking up a pair of second-place finishes. Jesse Torres and Joseph Todd went 1-2 in diving with state qualifying scores.

Ceili Brown netted a pair of second-half goals to power the Knights, now 2-0-1, to victory.
Timberlane 7, North 0
Maeve Hayes (3), Brooke Salafia (2) and Danica Travers (2) took care of the goal scoring for the 5-1 Owls.
Andover 6, Methuen 0
Halle Tisbert figured in five of the six goals with three goals and two assists. Caroline Vaughan, Leah Kivlehan, and Kailey Perkins also scored. For Methuen, Sophia Barbosa did all she could, stopping 27 shots.
Exeter 1, Salem 0
Nathalia Garcia was immense, keeping Salem in it with stellar goalie play. Bradley Thompson had a pair of defensive saves of her own to keep Exeter off the board until the final two minutes of the game.
Central Catholic 3, Westford 0
Addie Shumsky led the winners with two goals and an assist. Emily Goc had the other goal, and Meghan Clements delivered a pair of assists. Gianna Bonanno stopped 15 shots for the win in net, getting a little bit of help preserving the shutout with a big defensive save from Isla Mansfield.

Wilmington 6, Methuen 2
Becca Christie netted a pair of goals, and Mollie Fitzpatrick picked up an assist for the Rangers. Leah Hunter had 13 stops in net on Monday.
Methuen 4, Lowell 0
The Rangers busted into the win column in a big way on Tuesday, moving to 1-2-1.
Lexi McKenna scored three goals, and Fitzpatrick had the other. Christie had three assists, while Hunter stopped five shots in the shutout.
North Andover 5, Dracut 1
Avery Damour, Cameron Kvaternik, Brinley Desrosier, Ava Muse and Niki Daley had the Knight goals in the win.
Winnacunnet 5, Windham 0
The Jaguars drop to 3-2-1 despite five saves in net from Quinn Giarrusso.
Pinkerton 5, Spaulding 0
Audrey Earehart scored twice with one assist, while Cara Mahn, Ella Kubat and Ava Harris also had goals.
Pelham girls win a pair
The Pythons posted wins on back-to-back days to move to 5-0 on the young season. On Monday, Pelham edged Monadnock, 2-1, as Kylie Muldoon led the way with a goal and an assist. Chloe Rodriguez also scored. They came back on Tuesday to blank Belmont, 3-0.
Tatum Dzierlatka, Sophia Rodriguez and Gabby Milley had the goals in that one. Khloe Shanahan earned both victories in net with eight saves in each game.
Salem 1, South 1
Morgann Raskow made 11 saves as Salem moved to 1-2-1 on the year. Sophia Hill, Roean Higgins, Makayla Bradish and Shannon Quinn anchored a strong defensive performance. Aaliyah Hajjar came up with the dramatic 79th minute equalizer on a pass from Maddie Rowley.

The Rangers fall to 1-3 despite solid rounds from Dylan Anderson (41) and Colin Comeau (42) on Monday.
Methuen 172, Greater Lawrence Tech 153
Using point quota scoring method, the Rangers knocked off the Tech on Tuesday. Wil Labelle shot a 35 and scored 36 points to lead the Reggies. Zach Herland (37), Mike Yirrell (37) and Michael Nakhoul (39) led Methuen.

The Hillies fall to 0-5 despite steady rounds from Matt Baker (41), Brady Bergeron (41) and Teddy Kempinski (42) on their home course at Bradford CC.

Leading the Astros at Hoodkroft CC (par 36) were Matt Barnaby ( 37), Johnny Barbarossa (39), Jackson Bishop (39), Nolan Theokas (39), Tyler Rosum (41) and Luke Lojko (41).

Nate Weiss set the for the Jaguars’ sweep with a two over par 37 at Windham CC. Ethan Peluso, Evan Dell’Orfano and Sam Bouchard all shot 40. Declan Flemming was at 41.
Mitchell Madsen (37) paced Pinkerton, which managed to pick up two victories. Barnaby (39), Theokas (41), Rosum (42) and Barbarossa (42) rounded out the scoring.

Anthony Machado had seven big saves but the Rangers battle and fall to 2-2 on the year.
Nashua South 5, Salem 1
Dylan Boodoo scored the lone Salem goal, and Omar Ali stood tall in the net with 8 saves. Liam Gordon, Aiden Mwaniki and Amir Ali played solid matches for the Blue Devils.
Cross Country
Knights sharp at Relays
The North Andover boys placed three relay teams (three runners each) in the top 10 teams at the Clipper Relays in Newburyport on Saturday. The trio of Tucker LaRosa, Liam Rand, and Will Thomas took second overall in the three-by-two mile relay with a 29:33 clocking. Tristan Rand, Carter Eastwick-Haskell and Owen Desmond took sixth in 30:29, while Cam Riccio, Nate Zwinggi and Luka Radivojevic finished eighth in 30:49.
On the girls side, Julia Kroon, Addison Carter, and Olive LaRosa placed eighth in 38:25.
