The Methuen High wrestlers defended their home mat quite nicely with a 46-34 win over North Andover.
Posting pins for the Rangers were: Luca Finocchiaro (106), Danny Winegar (132), Noah Beshara (150), Yavi Sanchez (157), Vinny DeMaio (175) and Georgio Cherfane (285).
Cherfane had the match on his shoulders with the Rangers nursing a 40-34 lead into the final battle. He clinched things in style.
Anthony DeMaio scored by a major decision at 165, and Mikey McCormick was awarded a medical forfeit at 138.
For North Andover, Jayden Martinez (113), Izaiah Ambers-Christian (120), Jacob McCormick (144), Jack Russell (190) and Aiden Aquilina (215) had wins via pinfall. Michael Gagnon won by major decision at 126.

The Chieftains move to 4-0 despite 21 points from Knights captain Angel Sanchez.

Ava Milley and Grace Riley had 12 points apiece for the Pythons in a battle of previously 4-0 teams.

Courtney Fritts led the Knights with six points.
Boys Hockey
Dracut 6, Haverhill 1
Matt Costa had the lone goal for the Hillies. Anthony Pizzamenti and Max Boyer combined for 27 saves in the Hillie net.

The Warriors fall to 1-5-1 with the loss.
Windham 5, Nashua North 2
Josh Martino and Sam Kramer had two points each and Ricky Barker had the game winner in the third. Freshmen goaltender Tyler Merrill had his first career varsity win, stopping 23 shots.
Methuen 4, Lowell 1
Liam Worden netted two goals, while Cody Lambert and Zach Herland each had one in the Rangers win.
Philip Metivier and Elias Nakhoul split the duties in net, combining for 15 Methuen saves.
Girls Hockey
Central Catholic 7, Concord-Carlisle 1
Lucy Irwin (3 goals, 3 assists) and Molly Boyden (2 goals, 3 assists) swarmed in the offensive end for Central, now 3-4. Julia O’Neill and Angela Cardillo had the other Raider goals. Sydney Foster made 19 saves in the win.
Andover 4, Boston Latin 3
Sophomore Brooke Howard netted the hat-trick, and Maeve Bucci pitched in a goal and assist. Lindsay Kenny had three assists, and Riley Hunter added a pair.

Central opens season
At Nashoba, the Raiders had some fine performances. Kaleah Perham led the girls, taking fourth overall. Jack Quinn led the boys in fifth.
Ofer Moritz and Andrew Repici added top-15 finishes.
