Lawrence 6, North Andover 2
The Lancers continue to make statement after statement in 2025, defeating the Scarlet Knights at home. Scoring four runs in the 6th inning, Lawrence pulled away from what was a tight game. Using three pitchers (Enmanuel Paulino, Michael Schaufenbil, and Dariel Gonzales), the Lancers didn’t allow an earned run. Cole Mullen struck out six batters and allowed two runs in the loss for the Scarlet Knights.
Pinkerton 2, Manchester Memorial 0
Despite only three hits on the day, and zero runs not coming off of errors, the Astros eked out a big win over Manchester Memorial. Hunter Brasier was lights out on the mound in the win, striking out 12 batters and only allowing two hits.
Phillips Andover 4, Cushing Academy 0
In the first round of the ISL tournament, the No. 6 seed Big Blue got an upset win over No. 3 Cushing. Robert Brown tossed a complete game, striking out eight batters, and only allowing three hits. Logan Umbach returned from injury, going 1-for-2 with two walks. The Big Blue will travel to No. 1 Dexter Southfield on Saturday in the semifinals.
Portsmouth 9, Windham 5
While the Jaguars were in control early, leading 5-2 after two innings, the offense was unable to keep the bats going, as Portsmouth came back for a win. Jake Sullo, Eddie Charity, and Will Weiss all had solid showings with two hits each. Windham takes on Timberlane next.
Trinity 10, Timberlane 7
Despite the Owls leading 6-4 after two innings, Trinity pulled away in a high-scoring shootout. Liam Kelley and Kieran Lamb each had extra base hits and two RBI in the loss.
Bedford 5, Salem 4
It was a heartbreaking loss for the Blue Devils, leading the entire game, and 4-0 heading into the 6th inning, before Bedford scored all five runs. Dom Toscano did everything, despite the defeat, getting three hits at the plate and pitching a strong game. Errors loomed large for Salem, with two in the 6th inning, as Toscano only allowed two earned runs.
Softball
North Andover 25, Lawrence 3
Led by freshman Lilianne Lee in her varsity debut, it was all Scarlet Knights over Lawrence. Lee went 3-for-3 at the plate, while striking out eight batters and only allowing four hits on the mound. North Andover is now 7-6 on the season.
Haverhill 8, Dracut 7
The Hillies grab a huge win over the Middies, a key push to stay alive in the race for a state tournament bid. Haverhill trailed 3-2 entering the sixth, but scored six runs in the final two innings. With an 8-3 lead entering the bottom of the seventh, Dracut scored four runs. Gianna Pistone led Haverhill at the plate with three hits.
Brooks 12, Rivers 2
Andover’s Jackie Giordano continued her impressive senior season, striking out 15 batters and only allowing three hits in the victory. She also had a double and a single at the plate. Lawrence’s Sophia Florencio had a triple, double, and single in the win.
Central Catholic 4, Billerica 3
The Raiders got a big win on senior day over Billerica. Amelia Ovalles led the Central offense with two hits and two RBI. While the Raiders didn’t allow an earned run, it was frosh Madelyn Estepe that was huge in relief, only allowing three hits and striking out two batters.
Boys Lacrosse
Central Catholic 10, Merrimack (NH) 3
Goalie Maddox Moscardini stopped 12 shots and added an assist, en route to a trouncing over Merrimack. Cal Schoenfeld scored three goals, while Chase Akstin had four assists. Joe Buchanan dominated the faceoffs, going 14-for-17, which led to plenty of possession time.
Girls Lacrosse
Bishop Guertin 10, Pinkerton 9
In a long-awaited thriller, the Astros fell in a tight one to Bishop Guertin. Trailing by three at the half, the Astros pulled closer, thanks to five goals from Delanie Summers. However, the halftime deficit was too large for Pinkerton to come back from.
Salem 15, Nashua North 6
Led by Katie Wood’s six goals, it was all Blue Devils over Nashua North on Wednesday. While Olivia Schoenrock was stellar in net with 12 saves, Salem also got offensive production from Emily Young (3 goals) and Lily Burke (2 goals).
Volleyball
Pinkerton 3, John Stark 2
While John Stark forced a fifth set despite trailing 2-0, the Astros pulled it out on Tuesday, thanks to a 15-5 decider in the finale. Ben Koelb turned heads with 29 assists and 8 kills, while Kaden Layne added 13 kills. Pinkerton is now 8-2 on the season.
Methuen 3, Haverhill 0
It was all Rangers on Wednesday, cruising over the Hillies. Shawn LaDuke had 27 assists, while Andrew Cox had 13 kills, adding 18 service points. For Haverhill, frosh Brady Bergeron led the team with 12 assists, while Patrick Osgood had 10 digs.
Lawrence 3, Central Catholic 1
The Lancers won over their in-city rivals on Wednesday night, while the Raiders celebrated Senior Night at home.
Boys Tennis
Andover 4, North Andover 1
While it wasn’t another 5-0 sweep, it was once again a dominating day at the office for Andover tennis. Nik Narina won his singles match (6-2, 6-1), while the Warriors No. 1 doubles, Cam Nutter and Ricky Tran, won 6-1, 6-0.
Haverhill 3, Lowell 2
While Lowell took both doubles matches, it was the singles that once again propelled Haverhill to victory. Miles Stapel won his match in a superbreaker, while Jesse Rubera and Thomas Frame also got wins.
Central Catholic 3, Chelmsford 2
The Raiders got a key win on the road over Chelmsford on Wednesday afternoon.
Chelmsford 3, Haverhill 2 (Tuesday)
While the singles impressed, led by Miles Stapel (6-1, 6-2), the doubles proved to be the killer for Haverhill once again, falling to Chelmsford. Alongside Stapel, Jesse Rubera was strong (6-0, 6-0).
Girls Tennis
Portsmouth 8, Timberlane 1
The Owls fall to 6-3 on the season. Abigal Robinson was Timberlane’s sole winner, 8-5 in a hard fought match. In doubles play on the year, Robinson and Haley Hannaford are 7-1 on the season.
Trinity 7, Pelham 2
The Pythons fell to Trinity on Tuesday, despite a strong second set in the double header. Kathryn Haley made a remarkable comeback in the second, while Hailey Davis took both sets.
Methuen 4, Chelmsford 1
The singles swept the day, led by Liv Lawrence (7-6, 6-1), while Sienna Firiello and Emma Ripley won a third set superbreaker, 10-5.
Dover 6, Salem 3
The Blue Devils ran into a juggernaut in Dover, while still having a strong performance. Molly Mosto and Amelia Cikacz each won their singles matches for Salem. The Blue Devils now find themselves at 6-4 on the season.
Lawrence 3, Haverhill 2
Thanks to a clean sweep from the Lancers singles, Lawrence pulled out a win over Haverhill. Truc Nguyen, Jess Diep, and Angelica Castillo were the three winners for Lawrence.
Methuen 3, NDA 2 (Tuesday)
In a tight rematch, NDA gave Methuen all they could handle, but the Rangers prevailed. Bree Lawrence and Jill McSweeney had huge wins in singles, pushing Methuen to the victory.
