Bill James Tournament
Methuen High hosted the annual Bill James Tournament and finished second behind Xavier, Connecticut.
The Rangers crowned three champions: Noah Beshara (150), Yavian Sanchez Avelar (157) and Anthony DeMaio (165). Thomas Rodriguez-Morel was second at 215, Jerial Lopez was third at 190, Luca Finocchiaro was fourth at 106 and Julian Martin was sixth at 285.
Salem, N.H. finished 14th behind John Blocksidge, who was second at 113, Carter Lemire, who was fourth at 150, and Zander Wood, who was sixth at 190.
Lawrence finished 16th behind fourth places from Juniel Rosario (165), Manuel Perez (190) and Jariel Atilles-Javier (285).
State Voc Championship
Greater Lawrence High senior Kaelib Reynolds was the lone area champion during Saturday’s 17-team State Voc Wrestling Championship Meet. Shawsheen Tech won the team title, while Whittier Tech finished third and Greater Lawrence was fifth.
Reynolds gave up one point in four matches in the 175-pound division, beating Dominic DiCenso (Shawsheen), 4-0, Michael Mealey (Bristol-Plymouth), 15-0, Adruk Orcel (Nashoba Tech), 3-0 and John Morrison (Pathfinder), 6-1.
Cole Mallon (132) and Nerivaldo Datrindade, Jr., (285) finished in second place for the Reggies. Jonathan Crowe (150) and Daniel Estrada Colon (157) placed third, Jayden Pena (126) was fourth and Brandon Mejia (106) and Izick Diaz (120) both placed sixth.
Whittier Tech had 11 place-finishers. John Faxon (126) and Mathieus Binda (190) placed second. Jayden Franco (132), James Doucette (138) and Colbey Kent (215) finished third. Colby Furgeson-Torrey (157) finished fourth. And Reese Naylor (113), Logan Souza (120), Jazavier Vazquez (165), Jackson DePriest (175) and IIan Amazan (285) took home sixth places.
Greater Lawrence girls win State Voc title
On the female side, Greater Lawrence won the 14-team meet with 121 points. Whittier Tech finished fourth.
The Reggies crowned three champions: Danyeliz Retamar (107), Lino Pachano (138) and Jordyn Reynolds (165).
Danica Manon (145) was second, Ava Siriois (114) and Hannah Felix (185) placed third, and Kaylee Flores Reyes (126) and Ninoscha Ramos (152) placed fourth.
Whittier Tech’s Olivia Leone was the lone champion at 145 pounds. Also placing for the Wildcats were Kayla McDonough (165) and Emma McDonough (235) with second places and Kylah Bragan (107), who was third.
Timberlane sweeps in Connecticut
Timberlane traveled to Danbury, Connecticut to compete in super-quad meet and came away and dominated the competition, finishing 4-0 on the day. The Owls (21-2) defeated Simsbury 65-17, Gilbert, 76-5, Lewis Mills 78-3 and perennial state contender Dansbury, 58-12.

Capital City Classic
Three area teams competed in the 27-team Capital Classic Tournament held in Concord, N.H. Bishop Hendriken of Rhode Island won the tournament.
Haverhill finished ninth and were led by Matt Harrold winning the 215-pound weight division and Lucas Perez taking third in the 165-pound division.
Pinkerton Academy finished 14th. James Caruso (285) was third and Connor Combs (257) was sixth.
Windham finished 22nd and Liam McGrail was the lone place finisher, taking fourth at 138-pounds.

Matt Costa scored the lone goal on an assist from Ethan Jalbert. Goalie Max Boyer made 25 saves to keep the Hillies in the game.

Coen Gordon scored two goals and Evan Jackson had the other as the Astros edged out the Blue Devils held Friday night. Johnny Barbarossa, Colton Boisvert, Justin Howell and Davids Hibbard each had an assist. Goalie Tanner Moody stopped 27 shots to earn the win.
For Salem, Elliot Chisholm scored both goals, while Cam Chase, Gavin Doughty and Hunter Thompson had the helpers. Goalie Travis Chase made 27 saves.
Salem 11, Bishop Brady 3
Logan Tautkus (3 goals, 2 assists) and Hunter Thompson (2 goals, 3 assists) both had five-point games to lead the Blue Devils to the lopsided win.
Andree Marvellas scored his first varsity goal and added an assist. TJ Ward scored two goals and had an assist, while Gavin Doughty, Rocco Sullivan and Brody Chisholm added one goal each.

Roberto Robles stopped all 20 shots to earn his first shutout of the season. Josh Trudel and Blake Paquette had the Windham goals.

Julia O’Neil led the Raiders’ (7-5-2) offense with a goal and three assists, while Molly Boyden finished with two goals and Maggie Lane had a goal and an assist. Chloe Luzzo added one assist. Goalie Sydney Foster made 22 saves to earn the win.
