Dr. Anthony Wilson, chair of Family Medicine at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine Knoxville, has been named assistant dean of clinical affairs.
Wilson is a native of Crossville and was a partner at Crossville Medical Group from 2003-2012. His parents are Margaret Wilson and the late Garland Wilson of Crossville. He became full-time faculty at the UT Family Medicine Department in 2012 and has been chair of the department of Family Medicine since 2020.
Wilson is a graduate of Tennessee Technological University and received his Doctor of Medicine degree at University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis in 2000.
He completed his residency at UT Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville.
He completed an Academic Fellowship at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill in 2015.
He is a published author of numerous scholarly journal articles, and he frequently lectures nationally and internationally on topics of health care and graduate medical education.
He is also a peer reviewer for multiple prestigious journals, including Annals of Family Medicine and Academic Medicine.
As assistant dean of clinical affairs, Wilson will oversee the clinical services provided by UT Graduate School of Medicine.
He will also serve on the executive leadership dean’s council.
In addition to his new role as assistant dean, he continues to chair the UT department of family medicine. He is also the director of the faculty development seminar series and director of the academic leadership academy for UT Graduate School of Medicine.
He is the chief of the division of family medicine for the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
