Christmas is coming, so get ready for it by shopping at the annual Christmas and Miscellaneous Rummage Sale coming up at the Crown Gardens & Archives, the headquarters of the Whitfield-Murray Historical Society, at 715 Chattanooga Ave. in Dalton.
Look for a variety of Christmas and holiday-themed items ranging from full-size Christmas trees to indoor and outdoor décor. Plus, there will be a wide selection of collectibles, jewelry, glassware, artwork, furniture, kitchen items, books and more available at bargain prices.
Sale items are donated by area residents.
The sale, set for Thursday, Oct. 31, and Friday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., benefits the historical society and helps with the upkeep of its eight properties in Murray and Whitfield counties.
The organization accepts most donations with a few exceptions, such as clothes, encyclopedias, Readers Digest collections and large exercise equipment.
The historical society owns and maintains the following properties in Whitfield and Murray counties: the Crown Gardens & Archives serves as its headquarters in Dalton and was the former offices of nearby Crown Cotton Mill; the other properties in Whitfield include the Hamilton House, Blunt House, Dug Gap Battle Park and Huff House; in Murray County, the Wright Hotel, Chatsworth Depot and the Old Spring Place Methodist Church.
