BELLAIRE — Antrim County Sheriff’s Office hosts its 3rd Annual Student Art Competition.
The department is hosting the event in recognition of National Police Week (May 10-16) and the theme this year is “Dream Big, Serve Bigger.” The event means to encourage kindergarten through 12th grade students to explore the values of service, courage and community impact, an April 9 official social media post announcing the contest said.
Students who attend school in Antrim County are able to submit their artwork now through May 8 and one winner from each school district will be selected. Winners will be announced during National Police Week and the artwork will be posted on the Antrim County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page and website. Winning artwork will be displayed at the sheriff’s office, the official rules show.
All participants receive a Certificate of Participation and have a chance to be displayed at the sheriff’s office on a rotational basis.
Artwork should be 8.5-by-11 inches to no more than 10-by-12 inches in size. It should be flat (not three-dimensional), for example a drawing or painting created with crayons, pencil, paint or pastels.
The artwork must be original, authentic, unpublished and the sole property of the entrant.
Submissions should include the original artwork with personal information on it or attached, which includes first and last name, grade and age, school district and how the artist would like to be recognized (first initial, last name, age, etc.). Entries without a signature from a parent or legal guardian cannot be accepted.
All artistic styles and interpretations are welcome, the post said, “we hope you’ll encourage students to join in this opportunity to showcase their creativity while honoring those who serve our communities. Let’s see those big dreams come to life!”
