For the past four years, one of our area’s better softball players has been right down the road in little old Newbury.
Quite simply, Angelina Moroz has been dominant for Governor’s Academy.
The Merrimac native is about to embark on her senior season with the Govs, and will do so having already put together a terrific career. Now a two-year captain, Moroz has been named the Team MVP award winner in each of her first three seasons, as well as she’s received NEPSAC and All-ISL honors each spring. As a hitter Moroz has a combined three-year average of .540 (74-for-137) with 12 home runs and a 1.036 slugging percentage, and as a pitcher she has 243 career strikeouts.
It’s why just recently, Moroz announced that she will be continuing her softball career at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.
A fantastic fit, as Moroz is more importantly looking to study pre-med, and Case Western is a top academic school that will allow her to do that while also playing softball at a high level. Moroz currently has an excellent 4.38 GPA at Governor’s Academy, and the two-sport standout was also a co-captain for the volleyball team this past fall.
