The Amesbury High School Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of its new varsity cheerleading coach and varsity boys soccer coach.
Robin Pinzone has been selected to lead the varsity cheerleading program beginning this fall. Following her collegiate cheerleading career at UMass Amherst, Pinzone gained significant coaching experience at both the high school and youth levels. Her experience includes serving as the varsity cheerleading coach at Tewksbury High School and as the JV girls lacrosse coach at Masconomet Regional High School. An Amesbury resident, Pinzone has also worked locally with Amesbury Girls Youth Lacrosse for the past several years.
Pinzone earned a master’s degree in Psychology from UMass Lowell and currently serves as the New England Sales Director for Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, where she focuses on developing high-performing teams through coaching, collaboration, and professional development.
Steve Flaherty has been selected to lead the Amesbury High School varsity boys soccer program beginning this fall. He brings a wealth of experience, having coached the game at nearly every level throughout his career. Since coming to the United States in 1984, Flaherty has coached both boys and girls soccer in school and club programs, working with players ranging from the 12U level through high school.
Flaherty’s high school coaching résumé includes 16 years as a varsity head coach. His experience covers time spent as the boys head coach at Governor’s Academy and as both the boys and girls head coach at Bishop Fenwick High School. The Salem News 2019 Coach of the Year, Flaherty led Bishop Fenwick to Catholic Central League championships with the boys in 2015 and the girls in 2019.
In addition to his high school experience, Flaherty has spent decades coaching with several respected local club programs, including the New England Football Club, Aztec Soccer, and S.U.N.S./Viking Soccer Club.
