AMESBURY — Over the weekend of Nov. 8 and 9, artists and makers throughout Amesbury will welcome members of the public into their working studio spaces for tours, demonstrations, shopping, and conversation. Visiting artists — those without studios in the downtown area — will pop up in one of several host sites, including Amesbury City Hall, the Costello Transportation Center, BareWolf Brewing, and multiple downtown storefronts.
This year marks the 29th anniversary of this citywide event organized by the Amesbury Cultural Council (ACC). Made up entirely of city-appointed volunteers, the ACC is a municipal board whose primary purpose is to award annual state grant funds to local projects in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences. During open studios, the ACC hosts several pop-up spaces for guest artists, produces an event map and brochure, and provides a free trolley to transport visitors between a dozen studio locations across town.
In addition to shopping and art appreciation, open studios visitors can enjoy downtown restaurant specials, sales, musical performances, hands-on art projects, childrens’ activities, and more all weekend long.
