Emersen Allen’s long-range, last-minute goal lifted the Sidney girls soccer team to a huge 2-1 Midstate Athletic Conference win over Unadilla Valley at home on Thursday.
With less than two minutes to play in regulation, Allen sent a perfectly-placed free kick into the top corner of the goal to secure the win for the Sabers.
Nayla Miley opened the scoring with 16 seconds left in the first half to give Sidney the lead. Gracie Gorrell tied it up for UV early in the second half on a long shot of her own.
Sidney’s Paige Duchnowski made two saves in the win while UV’s Kora Johnson had three stops.
Sidney (9-2) will host Delhi on Saturday while UV (6-4) will host Bainbridge-Guilford on Monday.
Edmeston/Morris 4, Laurens 0
Edmeston/Morris blanked Laurens 4-0 on the road Thursday in a Tri-Valley League matchup.
Hannah Wist netted a hat trick and added an assist in the win while Taryn Lund scored a goal and Chelsey Clegg and Molly Rifanburg notched an assist each.
Abby White made two saves in the shutout while Laurens’ Ryleigh Williams had 13 saves.
E/M finishes the regular season with a record of 10-2-1. Laurens (4-7) will be at Richfield Springs on Saturday.
Schenevus 4, Gilboa/Roxbury 0
Schenevus took down Gilboa/Roxbury 4-0 at home on Thursday in a non-league game.
Sam Barrett had two goals and an assist for the Dragons, Annie Gallagher and Sophia Camilleri each scored goals and Cady Ritton and Carleigh Reed provided an assist apiece.
Leah Brundege made three saves to earn the shutout while Caitlyn Ciaravino made seven stops for G/R.
Schenevus finishes its regular season at 8-6. Gilboa/Roxbury drops to 3-5-3.
Oxford 3, Delhi 1
Oxford went on the road Thursday and defeated Delhi 3-1.
Teagan Manwarren scored twice for the Blackhawks while Emily Colbert also found the back of the net. Tyler Abts scored Delhi’s only goal of the game.
Raya Warner made three saves for Oxford while Delhi’s Peyton Garcia made five stops.
Oxford (7-3) will host Gilbertsville-Mount Upton on Friday while Delhi (6-4) will be at Stamford/Jefferson the same day.
