Spurred by Avery Miller’s area-best marks in nine events, Allegany led the way with 13 first-team nods on the 2025 Cumberland Times-News All-Area track and field squad.
The newly created All-Area track awards are selected using season-best times and distances in each event.
Athletes who have the top mark in the area for an event are considered All-Area first team, and those who finish second are second-team All-Area.
The boys team and Player of the Year will be published in Thursday’s newspaper.
Avery Miller, Allegany, 9 events
The Penn State signee led the area in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, shot put, long jump and triple jump.

Sophia Brill, Mountain Ridge, 1600m/3200m
Brill led the area in the 1600m (5:05.70) and 3200m (11:25.20). She won the Maryland class A state championship in the 3200m, and she finished second in the 1600m and third in the 800m at the state meet.
Brill was also a member of the Miner 4x800m relay team that achieved all-area status.
Autumn Kerchner, Keyser, high jump/discus
Kerchner was tops in the area in discus (127’ 2”) and tied for tops in the area in high jump (5’ 2”).
She placed third at the West Virginia Class AA state championship meet in the discus. Kerchner also had the second-best shot put in the area this season.
MaeLeigh Plummer, Fort Hill, high jump
The James Madison signee was tied for best in the area in high jump (5’ 2”).
She earned her second consecutive state championship in high jump at the Maryland state championship meet. She was also triple jump state champion as a junior.
In addition to her high jump success, Plummer was second in the area this season in triple jump.
Hisely Keiter, Hampshire, high jump
Keiter earned all-area status by virtue of her 5’2” high jump which was tied for best in the area this season.
She placed fifth in the event at the West Virginia state championship meet.
Keiter was also a member of the Trojan’s shuttle hurdle team that was tops in the area.
Shayla Tanouye, Paw Paw, high jump
Tanouye makes the team with her 5’ 2” high jump which was tied for best in the area.
She was West Virginia Class A state champion in the long jump and 300m hurdles.
Tanouye also ran the second-best 300m hurdle and third-best 100m times in the area this year.
Briley Linaburg, Allegany, pole vault
Linaburg was the area best in pole vault with a mark of 10’ 1”. She placed fourth at the state championship meet this spring and placed second in the indoor state championships.
Relays
Allegany boasted three first-team relay squads in the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400.
Miller and Sierra Campbell were on all three teams, Myia Miller was on the 100 and 400, Madison Parks was on the 100 and 200, Surae Stewart was on the 200 and Braylin Bosley on the 400.
Mountain Ridge’s 4×800 team of Fiona Ruddell, Reese Rizzo, Brylee Gray and Brill made the first team, as did Hampshire’s 4×102.5 shuttle hurdle team of Lani Stewart, Keiter, Lexi Whetzel and Avory Steinmetz.
