CUMBERLAND — Allegany County has launched its first Positive People campaign and is currently accepting nominations online.
This initiative aims to recognize and celebrate community members who make a positive impact by contributing to the continued success and well-being of the county.
“We are excited to launch a positive people nomination form where citizens can be nominated to receive recognition from the commissioners and the county for the positive and uplifting work they are doing in our community,” said Commissioner Bill Atkinson.
“There are a lot of good things going on here and I think it is very important to recognize and support the folks who are working toward good things every day,” he added.
Those wishing to nominate someone can do so on the county website, AlleganyGov.org.
“The link is now live on our website and the form will be open for one month,” said Atkinson. “We know we won’t be able to feature everyone because there is so much going on that is happening behind the scenes. We encourage you all to nominate those who have made a positive influence on our community in the last year.”
Nominations will be accepted through Feb. 11.
Jason Bennett, county administrator, said the awards will be a pilot program this year with expectations to make it an annual event. He said rather than honor one recipient, the program will likely recognize several people.
