CUMBERLAND — The Allegany College women’s soccer team enters 2025 with four returning standouts and a dozen hailing from the tri-state region.
Allegany College fielded its first team in nearly 20 years last season and finished 0-5-1.
The Trojans are coached again by Mo Pratt, who has decades of coaching experience at Mountain Ridge, WVU Potomac State College and six years as an assistant at Mount Savage.
“I’m absolutely elated to see a roster full of hardworking, dedicated young women who juggle academics, athletics, jobs and life — and still manage to succeed at a high level,” Pratt said. “Their commitment is inspiring. This season is going to be exciting for sure, and I couldn’t be prouder to lead this group.”
Four standout sophomores are back this fall in Allie Scritchfield (Calvary), Ava Sipes (Bedford), Adri Meadors (Allegany) and Emma Komatz (Mountain Ridge).
Scritchfield earned All-Region 20 second-team and All-MD JUCO honorable mention honors in 2024. She, Sipes and Meadors were named to the fall 2024 Dean’s List.
Komatz and Scritchfield led the team in scoring last season and are expected to be key offensive contributors again this year.
The freshman newcomers are Layla Miller (Mountain Ridge), Brylee Gray (Mountain Ridge), Emily Wilson (Calvary), Nevaeh Bunbasi (Fort Hill), Sierra Campbell (Allegany), Brenly Hershberger (Fort Hill), Madelyn Richardson (Berlin), Larna Crist (Bedford), Genesis Alvaraz (Waynesboro), Victoria McGhee (Coventry/Akron, Ohio) and Kya Bell (Villa Angela-St Joseph/Euclid, Ohio).
“It’s always fun each year seeing the new athletes show up at practice,” assistant coach Jody Glass said. “But it moves fast—there’s not a lot of time compared to other sports. The kids arrive, and it’s go time. Suddenly, we’re prepping for our home opener. The girls are out here every day working hard, and I’m especially excited to work alongside our new assistant, Colton Gardelle. It’s going to be a great season.”
Fans can stream home games for free on HUDL FAN, but the Lady Trojans encourage supporters to come out and cheer in person.
The Trojans, who dropped their opener 1-0 to Prince George’s on Tuesday, are at WVU Potomac State on Thursday at 7 p.m.
