CUMBERLAND — Allegany College kicked off its men’s soccer season this week and looks to build off a 2-10-3 finish in 2024.
The program will again be coached by Mo Pratt and assisted by Jody Glass and Colton Gardelle.
The Trojans return sophomore Caedon Wallace (Allegany) up top, who earned Region 20 honorable mention and Maryland JUCO third-team honors after scoring nine goals.
Riley McCutcheon (Allegany), Jace Patton (Allegany) and Sean Strawderman (Mountain Ridge) are also back, as is keeper Levi Carrington, who made 124 saves in 2024.
Other sophomores include Carlo Mischiato and Mihail Plesca, both from Canada, Kyode Smith (Jamaica) and Owen Pratt (Mountain Ridge).
Incoming freshmen are Gavin Clayton (Mountain Ridge), James DeCarlo (Mountain Ridge), Cade Crawford (Allegany), Quentin Dust (Bridgeport), Alex Forbes (Jamaica), Magdaleno Gomez-Benavidez (Blake), Tyler Snyder (Woodrow Wilson) and Julian Sanchez (Skyline).
“We’ve got a great group of guys this year — talented, driven and committed to improving every day,” Pratt said. “It’s exciting to see so many local athletes stepping up and representing ACM with pride. I’m looking forward to seeing what this team can accomplish.”
The team also excelled academically last year, with 12 student-athletes named to the Fall 2024 Dean’s and Honors Lists, 10 recognized in the spring and six earning NJCAA All-Academic honors. Several student-athletes are also dual-sport athletes playing baseball and running cross country.
Fans can stream home games for free on HUDL FAN, but the Trojans encourage supporters to attend in person and cheer from the sidelines.
Allegany College, which defeated Prince George’s Community College, 2-1, in its opener in Cumberland on Tuesday, is at WVU Potomac State on Thursday at 5 p.m.
“The preseason always flies by, and before you know it, we’re lining up for our first match,” Glass said. “These guys have been working hard from day one, and I’m thrilled to be back on the field with coach Pratt, and we hope to see fans here. It’s going to be a fun season.”
